My name is Mariana Zacaron and I’m a novelist and screenwriter from Brazil. My love for storytelling comes from even before I could write. I used to draw my little stories and show them to my parents, or fold old pieces of paper in half, staple them together to make my own books. I even made multiple copies of my stories (by hand) so I could give them to my friends and family.
My passion for fantasy and fiction made me an avid reader also from an early age and definitely played a key role in making me the daydreamer I am today.
I’m a self-published fantasy novelist, currently working on my second book. My prose writing is done mostly in Portuguese, but I have recently finished a novel in English, which is in the revision process.
Even though writing is what I truly love, I have always been interested in arts in general. Drawing is a hobby that I carry to this day, and it has taken me to fashion school in college, art school at University, followed by a specialization in Film and Audiovisual – this last one being where I discovered I could use my talent for writing into becoming a screenwriter.
And that brings us to Canada, 2019, where I joined the Writing for Film, Television and Games program at Vancouver Film School.
Being the big nerd and fan of video games that I am, the games stream of the program soon caught my attention. Here I discovered a new side of my passion: interactive storytelling.
Back in my hometown, I got a job at a local TV channel, where I started working in the writing and creation department, but soon became the host of a live TV show, which is my current job.
Even though I love being in front of the cameras, my dream is to work writing and creating stories, and I’m pursuing a career as a screenwriter.
